Pakistani musicians creating a stir in the world of Jazz music

A new flavor has been added to the world of Jazz and that too by an orchestra group based in Lahore, Pakistan. Sachal Orchestra is producing jazz music, using a variety of instruments including tabla as percussion and flute in place of a saxophone. Inspired by the likes of jazz greats such as Louis Armstrong, Ella Fitzgerald, their melodies are like a breathe of fresh air for jazz lovers all over the world.

Sachal Studios is the mastermind of Izzat majeed and Mushtaq Soofi and they are running the team behind Sachal Orchestra.

The launch of their album has been covered by the BBC, which gave them rave reviews on their originality and depth. This will surely bring a revival of classical music in Pakistan. Veteran American jazz musician Dave Brubeck has also described their interpretation of one of his tracks ‘Take Five’, as “The most interesting recording of it he has ever heard”.
